How to Measure Your Child’s Foot for Szamos Supinated (Orthopedic) Shoes
Place your child barefoot on a sheet of paper and trace the foot around the outline where the sole touches the paper. Then, measure the longest distance from the heel to the tip of the longest toe.
To determine the correct insole length for the chosen Szamos children’s shoe, add at least 0.5 cm (0.20 inches) to this measurement.
(This corresponds to the "cm" value in the Szamos supinated shoe size chart.)
Ideally, the insole of the shoe should be 0.5 to 0.7 cm (0.20–0.28 inches) longer than the child’s foot. This is the recommended insole length.
For children with wider or taller feet, it’s advisable to allow a bit more space — up to 1 cm (0.39 inches) may be necessary for comfort.
How Can You Check if the Szamos Supinated (Orthopedic) Shoe Fits Properly?
How often should you measure a child’s foot or check shoe size?
To ensure the Szamos supinated (orthopedic) shoe isn’t too big or too small, use the following guide:
• From birth to 2 years old: Measure your child’s feet every 1–2 months.
• Ages 2–3: A child’s foot can grow 2–3 shoe sizes per year, so measure every 2 months.
• Preschool and early elementary age: Continue measurements every 4 months, as feet still grow around 2 sizes per year.
• Upper elementary age: Growth slows, so measuring every 4–6 months is usually enough. Children at this stage can often tell you when the shoes feel uncomfortable.
On average, foot growth at this age is 1–2 sizes per year.
The Szamos supinated (orthopedic) shoe size chart helps you find the right size and ensure a comfortable fit.

Ages 8–14: Pay Special Attention to Foot Health
During these years, children often experience rapid growth and weight changes, which can affect their posture and spine alignment. If the foot muscles can’t keep up with this development:
• Heels may begin to tilt inward
• Weight shifts to the inside edge of the heels
• Ankles may collapse inward, leaning toward each other
If you notice any of these signs:
• Begin foot muscle strengthening exercises
• Consult an orthopedic specialist
They will likely recommend using supinated (orthopedic) shoes.
